Scientists from the University of Toronto have named a paradoxical way to become happy - to do this, you need to stop trying to achieve happiness. The study was published on the website of the International Association of Analytical Psychology (IAAP).
It is claimed that attempts to control your mood have the opposite effect, leading to emotional exhaustion and greater unhappiness. Researchers recommended perceiving happiness not as a goal that can be achieved, but as a natural feeling that can appear and disappear.
Scientists also gave three pieces of advice on how to become happier: perceive happiness naturally, appreciate what you already have, and do not try to control your emotional state.
Earlier, the Kingdom of Bhutan, which cares about the happiness of citizens at the state level, faced an existential crisis among the population. The country's Prime Minister Tsering Tobgay noted the irony of the situation: in his opinion, it was the success of the Gross National Happiness program that led to the outflow of citizens abroad.
