An investigation is underway into the sale of marijuana and its products at seven illegal stores in the south of the province.

The Cannabis Task Force has closed businesses in Barrie, St. Catharines, Vaughan, Brampton, and Toronto after searches uncovered goods worth about $600,000. The owners of all these businesses did not have licenses from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to sell the drug.

Seized were 63 kilograms of dried cannabis flower, more than 500 e-cigarettes, 214 grams of hash oil and 436 grams of hashish, almost 300 bags of psilocybin, cell phones, 500,000 Canadian dollars, and brass knuckles. Seven people were arrested, charged with 26 offenses.

However, this is only the tip of the iceberg, and the vacated niche will soon be occupied by other lovers of easy money
