Scientists have proven that fitness improves cognitive functions

Canadian scientists conducted an experiment, during which it was found that fitness improves cognitive functions.

Volunteers with excess weight, about 50 years old, were selected for the tests. During the experiment, it turned out that the participants, in addition to losing weight, increased their intellectual potential.

And employees of the University of Queensland in Australia found out that high-intensity interval training is of great benefit to the body. As the researchers said, such a load improves brain function. Scientists conducted an experiment with the participation of volunteers aged 65 to 85 years. They were asked to perform various physical exercises for six months. The load was divided by difficulty.

As it turned out, very intense interval loads did not just slow down the decline in cognitive functions in older people. Their brain activity became more active. Scientists noted that the exercises affect the work of stem cells, and they also increase the production of neurons in the hippocampus. This area of the brain is responsible for memory and other functions.

The scientists' discovery will help in the fight against dementia, which leads to the suppression of mental functions.
