It turns out there are still places to buy a house for cheap. Cochrane, Ontario, near the Manitoba border, will soon offer lots of land for sale for just $10.
That should inspire more people to move 7.5 hours outside of Toronto to the town of 5,000, known for its only polar bear sanctuary in the world.
The local government hopes that land discounts and property tax refunds will attract more developers.
That's especially important for the region's young people, who, as Mayor Peter Politis says, are convinced they'll never be able to own a home.
A social media post detailing the conditions has generated widespread interest, but also concerns about whether the influx of people will put too much strain on the town's infrastructure and social services.
