Two trapped in cars after head-on crash in Metcalf

Firefighters freed two people trapped in a serious crash Tuesday evening.

The crash happened in the area of ​​Bank Street. Ottawa police called firefighters to the scene. They found two vehicles in a head-on collision, one on the east shoulder and one in the west ditch. The drivers of both cars were trapped inside.

Firefighters set up hoses and stabilized the vehicles to ensure safety before beginning rescue efforts. A third vehicle was also involved but sustained only minor damage after driving through debris from the crash.

Firefighters used special tools to remove the drivers' doors to free the victims. Both drivers were rescued.

Absorbent materials were also used to soak up any leaking fluids and the vehicles' batteries were disconnected. Once the work was completed, the scene was handed over to Ottawa police.
