Amazon has introduced a new service in Canada that allows couriers to leave packages directly in your garage. This option makes deliveries more convenient and safer.
According to Ryan Flynn, senior manager of Amazon Key, the new option complements traditional door-to-door delivery by allowing access to the garage to safely place packages.
The service is available to Amazon Prime customers who have an automatic garage door with the Chamberlain Group’s my Q smart system. If you don’t have one, you can upgrade it. As Kiel Fitzgerald, general manager of Partnerships, noted, this turns a regular garage into a “smart” one.
The program is aimed at protecting packages from the elements. Couriers undergo rigorous screening and are only given one access to the garage.
They are allowed to enter the garage no more than five feet. The service will be free until March 2025, then the cost will be $1.99. Key Delivery — Pick Your Day customers will be able to use this option at no extra charge.
