Ottawa’s Trillium Light Rail Transit (LRT) line has performed well over several days of testing, achieving a perfect reliability score of 100%. Average reliability is now 99.3%. The TransitNEXT consortium, which is building the line, must maintain 98.5% reliability during the 14-day test period, which ends on October 21
The line operates nine diesel trains, running every 12 minutes and carrying up to 600 passengers. The test also includes training in various scenarios, including emergency situations, to prepare operators for potential problems. Full passenger service is expected to begin by mid-November.
On the first day of testing, which took place on October 7, the line showed 98.3% punctuality, which is close to the required score. Although there were some minor technical issues, they were quickly resolved. The test results are encouraging and indicate that the Trillium line is ready to be launched for passengers.
