Canadians Concerned About Housing Costs

Canadians are most concerned about the cost of housing in the country, according to a new Nanos poll. In a month, concerns have risen from 8.8% to 12.5%, CTV News reports. A month ago, 13.7% of Canadians named inflation as their top concern, while recently 12.9% said inflation was the nation's top problem.

As concerns about housing affordability have grown, support for the Liberal Party has fallen. Currently, 41% of Canadians support the Conservatives, 25.7% support the Liberals, and 17.3% support the NDP.

Younger people who previously supported the Liberals are switching to the Conservatives because of the rising cost of living. Dalhousie University professor Laurie Turnbull noted that voters are no longer listening to the Liberals. She believes that a change of leader could help, but it is unlikely.
