OC Transpo missed its ridership targets for the first four months of the year as riders continue to struggle in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A Transit Commission report showed 5.9 million ridership trips on buses and the O-Train in April, below the 6.6 million target.
April was the slowest month for transit this year, following six million trips in January, 6.1 million trips in February and 6.2 million trips in March.
OC Transpo projected 26 million ridership trips between January and April, but only received 24.2 million, according to the report.
Fare revenue in April was $12.8 million, below the $14.2 million target, staff said. The report shows that fare revenues were $5.9 million below budget for the first four months of the year.
