Most Canadians doubt new budget is 'fair'

Although the new budget was presented under the slogan “fairness for all generations,” an Angus Reid poll shows that most Canadians doubt it is good for anyone.

Seven in 10 respondents do not believe the government is doing what is right for their age groups, such as Gen Z (18-24) and Millennials (25-44).

People are mostly concerned about the rising cost of living, the housing crisis, high interest rates and health care.

51% of respondents put the rising cost of living first, but believe that this problem, as well as health care, is something the Liberals are unable to solve.

On housing, 31% put the lead in Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, 19% in NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, and only 13% in Trudeau.

Another 24% are unsure, and 13% are undecided.

And finally, 43 percent of Canadians are confident that only Poilievre is capable of restoring the economy and taking effective measures to reduce the deficit.
