Gordie Howe International Bridge Nears Completion

North America's longest suspension bridge, connecting Ontario to Michigan, is nearing completion.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge, spanning the Detroit River, will soon connect the cities of

Windsor and Detroit, filling the gap between Highway 401 in Ontario and I-75 in Michigan. It will help relieve congestion at the current border crossings.

Construction work has been underway since October 2018, employing 3,900 workers.

Deck installation, which began in December 2022, is expected to be completed in the coming months.

It is expected to surpass the Port Mann Bridge in British Columbia, with its 470-metre span over the Fraser River.
