Submarine

Off the coast of Canada, the search continues for a submarine that made an excursion to the Titanic. What is known about the people on board and their chances of survival

A large-scale search and rescue operation is being carried out in the mid-Atlantic after a tourist submarine went missing, moving out of the US on an excursion to the Titanic.

Rescuers of the Coast Guard of Canada and the United States on June 19 began their work to search for a submarine with tourists. It is noted that communication with the bathyscaphe was lost an hour and a half after it sank on June 18.

The missing ship is OceanGate's Titan, a truck-sized submersible that can carry five people and usually dives with a four-day emergency supply of oxygen.

On Monday evening, Rear Admiral John Mauger of the US Coast Guard said the hikers had about 60 to 70 hours of oxygen left.

Different versions are expressed about the reasons for the disappearance of the Titan: the bathyscaphe could collide with a reef, or it could get stuck in the wreckage of the Titanic. In any case, this will become clear only after the rescue apparatus finds the missing tourist boat.

Travel firm OceanGate said it was considering all options to rescue the five people on board.
