Canada seizes Russian cargo plane from Toronto Pearson


A Russian-registered cargo plane that has been parked at Toronto Pearson Airport for more than a year has been confiscated by the Canadian government, the Canadian Foreign Office said on Saturday afternoon.

An Antonov 124 aircraft belonging to a subsidiary of Volga-Dnepr Airlines LLC and the Volga-Dnepr group of companies, against which Canada recently imposed sanctions in connection with their actions in the war against Ukraine. The aircraft has been parked at Pearson since February 27, 2022. The owner of the aircraft was billed 74 cents per minute parked at Toronto Pearson Airport, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) reported in April 2022, for a total of $1,065.60 per 24-hour period, according to GTAA .
