U.S. Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk Killed
On September 10, at Utah Valley University, well-known conservative commentator and founder of the youth movement Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, was shot dead. He was 31.
Police reported that at around 12:10 p.m., during an outdoor speech, a single shot was fired, striking Kirk in the neck. His security team immediately evacuated him to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The FBI confirmed that a “person of interest” had been detained, though later authorities stated the suspect was still at large. The campus was locked down, classes canceled, and students instructed to shelter in place until the operation ended.
Kirk’s death sparked a strong reaction. President Donald Trump ordered flags flown at half-mast nationwide, calling him a “great American patriot” and offering condolences to Kirk’s wife Erika and their two children. Utah Governor Spencer Cox pledged that those responsible would be brought to justice.
In a statement, Turning Point USA called the murder a “devastating loss” and emphasized Kirk’s Christian faith: “May our Savior, who suffered and died for Charlie, welcome him into His merciful arms.”
Charlie Kirk was one of the most prominent conservative voices in U.S. politics, active on university campuses and in public debates. His “American Comeback Tour,” which began in Utah, was tragically cut short.
