Trump denied Macron's statement about working on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran

US President Donald Trump said that his early departure from the G7 summit in Canada is not related to attempts to reach a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. This is how he responded to the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron, who claimed that Trump proposed a ceasefire plan.

"Macron is wrong. He does not know why I am going back to Washington, but it is certainly not related to a ceasefire. It is about much more important things," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Earlier, Macron told reporters that the US had received "an offer to cease fire and launch broader negotiations." However, Trump categorically denied this information.

According to the official version, Trump left the summit early due to the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. Last Friday, Israel launched airstrikes on Iranian territory, which led to escalation. Both sides continue to exchange blows. Tehran says more than 220 people have been killed, most of them civilians. Israel has reported 24 deaths.

Washington and its allies accuse Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons. Tehran denies this, citing its right to peaceful nuclear energy under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Israel, which has not signed the NPT, is considered the only nuclear power in the region.

The White House said Trump still wants a nuclear deal with Iran.
