Ottawa resident Harvinder Singh Malhi, 47, faces drug charges after a package containing heroin from Italy was intercepted at Ottawa Airport customs.

On May 8, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers discovered the drugs during a follow-up inspection. The OPP Street Crime Team was called in to investigate further.

On May 20, a search warrant was conducted at a home on Red Castle Ride in Manotick. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

Malhi faces charges of importation and possession of a class one substance (heroin) with intent to supply. He was released on a recognizance to appear in court on June 24.
