Although the sunny and warm weather of the last few days seems like the first sign of spring to Ottawa residents, meteorologists warn that winter may yet make its presence felt.
March and April in the capital region will be warmer than usual, but several periods of cold snaps are predicted. For example, this coming weekend, the temperature will rise to +11°C on Saturday, March 15, and to +14°C on Sunday. However, in a week, it will return to more typical values for this period - about +5°C.
“Spring will be changeable: warm days will be followed by cool periods,” says meteorologist Alain Gonthier.
As for precipitation, the forecast is not yet determined. According to forecasters, any scenario is possible - from moderate rain to strong storms. Chief meteorologist of the country J.D. Scott also noted that for Southern Ontario and Quebec, spring will most likely be wet, although the number of rainy days will remain within the norm.
Ottawa residents are advised to be prepared for the unexpected, as sudden weather changes and late snowfalls are possible.
