экспорт электроэнергии

Starting Monday, 1.5 million Americans will pay 25% more for electricity from Ontario in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs, Premier Doug Ford announced.

The province supplies Minnesota, New York and Michigan, and Ford warned governors of those states in advance.

Once burned, never twice burned. We keep our promises,” he said.

While Ford called the decision “unpleasant,” he stressed that Trump was the only one to blame for the situation.

The president has created chaos. People are losing their jobs, their retirement savings are in jeopardy,” he said.

Minnesota worried about rising prices

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called the trade war a threat to future cooperation with Canada.

The president does not value partnerships that bring billions to the economy. But Minnesota does,” he said.

Trump imposed 25% tariffs on Canadian goods and 10% on energy on March 4. Canada responded with $30 billion in counter-tariffs and promised another $125 billion in three weeks.

Ford and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau insist Canada will not back down until Trump lifts all tariffs.

He underestimated the resolve of Canadians. We will fight to the end, ”Ford said.
