The Liberal Party of Canada has disqualified Ruby Dalla from the leadership race, citing financial violations and possible foreign interference. Dalla has denied the allegations, calling them “false and fabricated.”

The party said Dalla violated 10 national and financial rules, including possible violations of the Canada Elections Act and filing inaccurate financial reports.

I was removed to get out of Carney’s way’

The former MP told CTV News that she learned of her disqualification from the media and was not formally notified by the party. She believes she was removed to clear the way for former Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney.

‘I was the only outsider in the race who was proposing progressive reforms. The party didn’t want to hear those ideas,’ Dalla said.

She campaigned on a “strong military, tight border control, and keeping Canada out of foreign conflicts.” She also claimed she would be the best person to negotiate with Donald Trump.

The Liberal leader who will replace Justin Trudeau will be elected on March 9.
