Hillcrest High School in the Elmvale area was temporarily placed on lockdown Monday following a stabbing.

Police arrived on scene to find two victims, one of whom was a student, the Ottawa School Board confirmed. The victims were taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

School staff immediately called emergency services and activated a lockdown procedure to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Police arrested one suspect at the scene and later detained three others. Their names are being withheld due to the Youth Justice Act.

Other schools in the area, including Franco-Cité Catholic High School, were not affected.
