Algonquin College says it is “seeking clarification” on the provincial government’s new policy.
Three weeks after the province announced a moratorium on all new “international activities” for colleges, it is still unclear what that means for Ontario’s 24 colleges, including Algonquin.
In a letter to college presidents on August 16, Minister Jill Dunlop announced a pause in all new international college initiatives effective immediately, pending a review of the minister’s directive on business activities.
Colleges are prohibited from entering into new contracts related to training outside of Canada. The moratorium covers branch campuses, program licensing agreements, and corporate training contracts.
Student recruitment and research partnerships are not included.
