The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued the first permit for the cultivation of a plant that contains animal protein. The approval was received by a little-known company, Moolec Science SA, which appeared in Luxembourg four years ago.
In appearance, taste and consistency, the beans are no different from classic ones. However, the human body reacts to plant food as to meat with a high protein content. The full benefits of the new product have not yet been revealed, but experts are confident that the beans are absolutely harmless. Growing beans does not require a lot of water (unlike pork production). Such food does not leave a carbon footprint in nature.
Currently, the USDA is considering more than 300 applications for approval of grains and fruits with animal protein. Despite all the advantages of plant food, it does not contain animal protein, which causes major health problems for vegetarians and vegans. Dairy products are too expensive in terms of their production.
As a result, grains and fruits with “beef, pork or fish” can become a universal food product, which will have all the components of an ideal lunch/dinner - fiber, proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fats. Beans from Moolec Science SA are of great interest to people involved in sports. They believe that the new product will be able to replace most of the products (mixtures, powders, bars, etc.) sold in sports nutrition stores.
