MUSIC CLASSES AT THE “MATRYOSHKA” CHILDREN’S CENTER
Music education is an essential part of a child’s overall development.
At Matryoshka Preschool, we place great emphasis on music classes because they help children not only explore the world of sounds but also strengthen speech, memory, attention, coordination, and emotional intelligence.
Why is music so important for a child’s brain development?
Music is a sensory experience.
When a child listens to or makes music, both hemispheres of the brain are activated. This is a unique feature: unlike language or math, which primarily engage the left hemisphere, music also stimulates the right — responsible for emotions, imagination, and intuition.
Formation of neural connections.
Musical activities promote the creation of new neural pathways, which is especially important during the preschool years when the brain is most receptive to learning.
Prevention of learning difficulties.
Neuropsychologists believe that regular exposure to music helps prevent challenges with reading, writing, and arithmetic later in school, as it enhances auditory perception, rhythm, and concentration.
Structure of music lessons
Lessons are conducted in an engaging, playful format. Depending on age, children learn to:
-

develop their hearing and sense of rhythm;
 -

sing and practice vocal warm-ups;
 -

play active musical games;
 -

dance and explore basic choreography;
 -

play simple instruments (percussion, rhythm sticks, shakers, etc.);
 -

discover different musical genres, styles, and instruments;
 -

listen to musical pieces — from children’s songs to classical works.
