Canada Strong Pass

Liberal Party Leader Mark Carney has announced a new “Canada Strong Passport” designed to make it easier for families and young people to travel around Canada in the summer of 2025. The announcement comes amid tense trade relations with the United States.

Carney said the initiative is being launched in response to threats to Canada’s economy and sovereignty from U.S. President Donald Trump. “Canadians are coming together to explore and celebrate our country,” he said.

The passport will provide free admission for children and youth under 18 to national galleries and museums, as well as free travel on VIA Rail when accompanied by a parent. Discounts will be available for youth aged 18 to 24.

Starting in 2025, camping fees in national parks will also be reduced in the summer to make it easier for families to enjoy the outdoors. This is part of a broader effort to support local tourism and access to historic sites.

Carney also announced that Canada’s national parks and historic sites will be free to visit this summer. In his statement, he emphasized the importance of defense policy and strengthening Canada's position in NATO.

These measures should help Canadians more easily enjoy travel within the country, supporting domestic tourism in the face of international instability.
