TON Cryptocurrency Price Soars Nearly 17% Amid Reports That Pavel Durov Has Received Permission to Leave France

Pavel Durov left France for Dubai "for a few weeks" with permission from the court.

Durov had been in France since August last year, when he was detained at the airport on charges of aiding cybercriminals. In early February, it became known that his case would not be heard in court for at least a year

"He left France this morning," a source familiar with the case told AFP, adding that Durov left with permission from the authorities. According to another source, the investigating judge allowed him to leave France for "a few weeks."

Durov was detained at Le Bourget Airport in Paris in August 2024. The allegations concerned Telegram moderation and refusal to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, which made the businessman a suspect in the distribution of child pornography, fraud, and other crimes. He was placed under arrest for several days and then released on bail of €5 million and an obligation to report to the police twice a week. He was prohibited from leaving France. Since November 2024, Belgian law enforcement has also joined the investigation into Durov's case.

The businessman's lawyer, David-Olivier Kaminski, called the prosecution's position that his client was involved in crimes committed via Telegram absurd.
