After the surprise trade of Josh Norris and Jacob Bernard-Docker to Buffalo for Dylan Cozens and Dennis Gilbert, there were many doubts among fans. But after just a week, those doubts were gone: 24-year-old forward Dylan Cozens fit right in with the Senators.
Cozens has scored goals in the last two games, not only creating big plays but also adding physicality to the team. He scored the key goal in a 5-2 win over Philadelphia, extending the team's lead in the third period.
"He's a great player, very receptive to coaching, always looking to win, and has fit in well with the team," said head coach Travis Green.
President of hockey operations Lee Steves wanted to add physicality to the team, and Cozens fit the bill perfectly. The Senators have been lacking an aggressive game in their current playoff run, and now, according to coach Travis Green, the team has received the necessary impetus.
Cozens himself is happy with the move: “The guys have accepted me very well, the atmosphere in the team is amazing. It’s a real pleasure to play in such important games,” the forward noted.
Experts note that surrounded by stronger partners, Cozens will reveal his full potential. Ottawa, having won five of the last six games, currently occupies the position of the first wild card in the Eastern Conference. There are nine games left until the end of the regular season, eight of which the team will play at home.
The main task of the club is to stabilize the game and not look back at the competitors, who are just a few points behind. In the upcoming match against Boston, the team will have to demonstrate the energetic game that helped them enter the playoff zone.
