First-degree murder charges filed in investigation of suspicious death in Carleton Place
On November 12, a body was discovered in the Mississippi River near Pakenham, later identified as 50-year-old Rose Kerwin. On November 13, Kerwin was reported missing by the Ontario Provincial Police. As a result of the investigation, two people were arrested and charged on Tuesday, December 19th.
Marcel LaPence, 56, of Carleton Place, and Samantha Osborne, 23, of Iroquois, are charged with first-degree murder. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Lanark County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Additionally, in a separate investigation, the two became accused of sexually assaulting another victim, which was reported to Lanark County OPP on Nov. 15. They face the following charges: Forcible confinement, Sexual assault, Making threats and causing bodily harm. The accused were taken into custody.
